We are delighted to announce that Tecnológico de Monterrey (TEC) has joined the Worldwide Universities Network. We welcome Rector Dr. David Garza and his colleagues to the WUN Board, research teams and programs. The Worldwide Universities Network looks forward to a valuable and productive partnership.

Tecnológico de Monterrey (founded in 1943) is a non-profit, private institution ranked sixth in the Latin American region, number 206 in the QS World University Ranking, and number 17 in Princeton Review’s Top 25 undergraduate program for entrepreneurship. The university counts over 90,000 students in 31 campuses throughout Mexico, along with 19 international offices. The main campus is based in Monterrey, capital of the north-eastern Mexican state of Nuevo León.

Tecnológico de Monterrey aims to engage in quality research that educates, innovates, and transforms.

One of the university’s main objectives is to transform Mexico through the generation and transfer of economic, political, and social knowledge towards their communities, carrying out action-research projects to solve global social problems with national and international impact.

Areas of research focus include biotechnology and food; information and communication technologies; energy and sustainable development; mechatronics and engineering; public policy; medicine; education, the humanities, and social sciences.

The research strengths of TEC are closely aligned to the four Global Challenges of WUN in Responding to Climate Change, Public Health (non-communicable diseases), Global Higher Education and Research, and Understanding Cultures.

Please see the 2017 Report of Research that Transforms lives for further detail on research projects & processes, partners, and outcomes.

Tecnológico de Monterrey, along with a second new member from this region, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), join WUN as two outstanding research intensive universities, and, as members from the Latin American region, further empower the global reach and influence of WUN as a leading international network for its membership and the wider world.

We encourage WUN members to explore opportunities for collaboration directly with TEC counterparts. The contact details of the TEC WUN Partnership Board and Academic Advisory Board members, and of the WUN Coordinator, will be published shortly on the Governance page of this website.
