University of Southampton Vice – Chancellor Don Nutbeam Named Honorary Professor by Nanjing University

On November 15 Prof. Dr. Don Nutbeam, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Southampton, received the honorary professorship from Nanjing University when attending the International Forum on Contagious Diseases and Public Health hosted by the Center for Public Health Research, Nanjing University.

NJU Chancellor Prof. Hong Yinxing and President Prof. Chen Jun had previously met with Dr. Don Nutbeam and discussed further cooperation between Nanjing University and the University of Southampton in public health, engineering, and science park management and scientific achievements transfer. 

Nanjing University and the University of Southampton began cooperation in the year 2007 and have forged comprehensive collaborations in the fields of public health, higher education management, oceanography, sociology and history.

Prof. Nutbeam is a world-renowned expert on public health, and over his thirty-year research career has made a substantial international impact on the theory, science and practice of health promotion. He became the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Southampton on October 1, 2009.
