Griffith University joins WUN

Griffith University (Gold Coast campus)

The Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) is pleased to announce that Griffith University has joined the network. We welcome Vice-Chancellor Professor Carolyn Evans and colleagues to the WUN board, research teams, and programs.

Griffith University welcomed its first students in 1975 with four foundational, multidisciplinary schools including Environmental Science and Modern Asian Studies.  From these original schools, Griffith University has grown into the comprehensive research university it is today.

Griffith’s research strengths in social justice (criminology and law), education, Asia Pacific relations, environmental sciences, health, biomedical sciences, quantum technologies and nanotechnology, and emerging strengths in agriculture and food align well with the strategic priorities of WUN.

The university is committed to seeking mutual and sustainable value in its partnerships, and to engaging globally with other partners who share its commitment to the UNSDGs.

In its expression of interest to join WUN, the university noted that the decision to seek membership of WUN as its exclusive global network was the result of a careful analysis of the many international university networks, their missions and membership, and their alignment with Griffith University’s values, focus and ability to contribute to meaningful collaborative activities.

Griffith University’s membership in WUN will further enhance the network’s collaborative efforts through its strengths in sustainability, health, and social inclusion. By leveraging its strategic partnerships across the Asia-Pacific, Griffith aims to support WUN’s global reach, foster interdisciplinary research, and support impactful initiatives that align with the network’s mission to address global challenges.

On joining WUN, Professor Carolyn Evans said, ‘We are delighted to join WUN and be part of a global network of outstanding universities that are dedicated to addressing key global challenges. We look forward to partnering with other members in a way that is impactful, collaborative, and purpose-driven.

WUN Executive Director Peter Lennie added, “The University’s deep commitment to international research collaboration, coupled with distinctive strengths in areas that complement those of existing members, makes it an exemplary partner. I look forward to working with Carolyn Evans and colleagues at Griffith as the university begins what will undoubtedly be a productive engagement in WUN.”
