The University of Leeds invites proposals for contributors to an online research webinar series titled, ‘Global Mental Health: Bridging Research, Innovation, and Equity’ that will run from September 2025 and May 2026.
Proposals will be for short 8-10 minute presentations to join one of the four seminars in this series. Each seminar will bring together at least two presenters and will be followed by guided discussion and exchange. Our aim is to facilitate collaboration between researchers from both low- and middle-income and high-income countries and between early career (including postgraduate) and more experienced researchers.
Conceptual background
The series promotes a more balanced, bidirectional exchange of knowledge between HICs and LMICs. We recognise that knowledge has historically been presented as an entity that has trickled down from Global North to Global South contexts, whilst LMICs have pioneered some of the most innovative, community-led, and sustainable mental health solutions. This webinar series is an opportunity for co-creation of knowledge between HIC and LMIC mental health researchers. At present, the webinar series will be guided by the following four themes:
- Global Mental Health: A Shared Challenge with Diverse Solutions
- Embedding Research into Practice: Lessons from LMIC and HIC Collaboration
- Innovative and Scalable Mental Health Solutions in LMICs
- Towards Equity: Building Sustainable and Inclusive Global Mental Health Systems
Format
Contributors are asked to distil their novel insight, explain why it matters, and demonstrate how it could translate to other settings. Discussions will then move into facilitated breakout rooms to explore what we can learn from these talks and how to take ideas forward.
If you are interested in taking part, please complete this Microsoft form before 25 July 2025. We will confirm further details including the dates of each seminar in due course.
